Are you a wartime veteran — or the spouse of one — in need of assistance with daily activities? You may be eligible to receive a significant monthly income from the Department of Veterans Affairs through the Aid & Attendance Program.
This program is for veterans who are at least 50% disabled due to a service-related condition. A physician must authorize these services, which are delivered through the VA's network of hospital-based home care units.
Official VA Aid & Attendance OverviewTo qualify for VA Aid & Attendance or Housebound benefits as a veteran or survivor, at least one of the following must apply to you:
You require another person to help with bathing, grooming, feeding, dressing, or other activities of daily living.
You must spend a large portion of the day in bed because of illness or a medical condition.
You are a client in a nursing home due to loss of mental or physical abilities related to a disability.
Your eyesight is limited to 5/200 or less in both eyes (even with corrective lenses), or visual field contracted to 5° or less.
If you receive a VA pension and spend most of your time at home due to a permanent disability, you may be eligible for Housebound benefits. These provide additional monthly payments separate from the Aid & Attendance benefit.
Note: You cannot receive Aid & Attendance and Housebound benefits simultaneously.Follow these steps to submit your VA Aid & Attendance application. Our team at Jabez Home Care is here to help you through the process.
